That woman has a lovely voice!
..are you sure this is the last show? I've been to 2 shows. He looks really young here.
I think he left and then returned to resume the show.
I beg you to stay ❤ please stay 🙏. I can't throw myself on the floor prostrate, for fear that I could not get back up.😅
why did he go to Denmark?
To marry a Danish girl and to live there. It's a long and complicated saga; there is a lot of material on the subject you can find on the internet. Thanks for listening!
@@mikhailfaisman5287 when did he come back to the states?
In two years.
That is a nice painting.
Thank you for listening!
Prairie Home Companion brought the art of storytelling to us every week. I really think I have learned more from this show than a whole slew of creative writing classes. Far more enjoyable, and better for my finances (!!!). I am grateful to you for bringing a staple in my life back, a thousand thanks.
There's always a backstory, especially when one grows old. Then the history becomes more interesting. People, especially young adults in a hurry, judge without considering where the old have been, or why they're still alive!
😅z0
Glad you liked it.
What a great story - thanks for telling it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanx4post
You're welcome.
Excellent one!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Somehow garrison lost his job. But, in 2024 we have a convicted felon legitimately running as president. Slash, already warned us. Dick tater. Something is wrong. Garrison is to bad, but don is ok? Even alice would be confused.
Oh what a beautiful summer night.😊
Wonderful! Thank you for listening!
love it!
Thank you for listening!
14:13 Love this song...
I guess Wally didn't wear a glove or a batting helmet.
is it possible to download full episodes anywhere? my dream is to have as much of the archive as possible on a usb stick, make a few copies and give them out to my family
Just type in garrison Keillor and you should have access to dozens of recordings.
Is that the squirrel nut zippers playing? Love it!
I love them too, but it's not them - it's "I Lost My Gal From Memphis" sang by Bob Brozman. Thanks for listening!
Every day I listen to this channel ..... i've thanked you for your many pains before .... but .... I think about the myriad details you must attend to, providing this wealth of material ...... everything from your eye-catching graphics .... to correct air-dates ....... and a hundred other things I can't even imagine. ..... and you do it EVERY DAY. .... your generosity of spirit is epic. ..... It's hard to express what a joy it is to hear this stuff ! ! ! ..... so many HITS .... also .... lesser known bits .... new to discover.... ( sorry for writing a book here ) .... im sure you have heard much the same gushing from many GK fans here before ....... thank you again for all your hard work uploading and creating such a fabulous channel ! ! !
Thank you so much for your very kind words! It's been a pleasure...
Mr G could have been the inspiration for Monty Python me thinks
It's a possibility... 🙂
Love these stories
Thank you for listening!
Wonderful!
Many thanks!
A nod to my home sweet Tennessee home! ❤
I ❤mom now honey!
1982? Wow I remember that year pretty good year if I recall well anyway gosh hard to believe 2024 now 😊
Several 1982s have already been published. More to come. Thank you for listening!
One of my FAVORITE shows of ALL TIME!!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for listening!
After my divorce I swore off EVER trying to "fix" another man again, OR enduring him doing that to me. I looked for a man happy in himself and okay with me. My second marriage was heaven until he died. Accepting each other for what we were from Day One made me free and joyful. I LOVE that men aren't like women. If I want a really good friend I look for my women friends. If I want a mate it's an unvarnished GUY.
😅😅😅😅😅😅😂😂
😄Thanks for listening!
Doreen made me too angry to laugh. I never had a sister but if I did I'm sure she wouldn't be as vicious as that.
thanx

Oh my gosh. I laughed so hard.
Thank you for listening!
I never knew my father's father, and my mother's father died when I was very young. Garrison Keillor was my "Radio Grandpa" for nearly 25 years. I've never met him, but I love that man with all my heart.
Thank you for listening!
😂❤
Thank you!
Thanks for wonderful stories about Lake Wobegon
Our pleasure!
I usually like GK's anecdotes, but don't Diss Mr. Rogers.
I didn't know that Garrison Keillor implied that Fred Rogers was a pedophile. He wasn't a Lutheran or Catholic priest, you know! He was a Presbyterian Minister, and a good, kind, Faithful man. And that crap doesn't stick to Presbyterians easily. Because...? We have rules and committees who meet for hours to make sure that the only thing our ministers can do is realize, 'OSH*T-THE SESSION IS MEETING TONIGHT! and if the minister doesn't show up, well.. we'll go for a... VOTE.. from all members present... on Sunday. AND THERE WILL be a quorum, by the time all the gossips get done elaborating and exaggerating on the incident. In our honest defense, most of us show up because we know the gossips get it wrong. It'll be the next Sunday, and the minister will know that he is a) not being accused of molesting a child, but b) found to have broken the confidentiality agreement, embarrassing and injuring a member who came to him for advice and comfort. If the minister is a gossip who tells the Session what he's heard, he is not a pastor, but a tattletale. Molesting a child is violating a trust - but so is revealing words spoken in confidence and the body may never be found. Also, I did hear that in the 50's, a minister was caught by a little girl's mother when he lifted up a corner of the child's skirt. Presbyterian historical records completely fail to tell what happened after that. I suspect Presbyterian moms are Biblically educated, who treasure and tend to hover over their children, and that's why Presbyterian ministers don't become pedophiles. Lastly they marry women who love them, protect them, are sometime better at interpreting Biblical meanings, and won't let them misbehave. I may be wrong; my perspective has only had 55 years of observation. And if you got to the bottom of this, either you thought I was mildly funny, or you have too much time on your hands. Cheers.
Fantastic! Thanks!!
You're welcome. Thanks for listening!
So many voices missed so long.
Thank you for listening!
Garrison Keillor makes me laugh. Thanks
You're welcome. Thanks for listening!
Actually the books he mentions are fascinating. Melville jumping ship, imprisoned, escaped, went over the mountains to hide out with cannibals and become very affectionate with the chief's daughter.
so happy these are available. Every Sat. or Sun. night on public radio we listened in the late 70's-80's. Used to borrow the cassette tapes from the library. thanks for sharing these lovely memories
You're most welcome. Thank you for listening!
I've never agreed with Garrison about rhubarb pie but he's spot on about broccoli.
